ABSTRACT- Compacted soils are mostly used for liner systems of landfills. It is designed based on required permeability and liner thickness. The preferable permeability and thickness are less than 1 x10-9 cm/s and 0.60 m respectively (EPA 1993). Utilization of locally available soil for liners is an economically convenient alternative (Wijeyesekera et al., 2001).
